One of the most historical monuments of the Flemish region of Belgium is Ghent Sint-Pieters railway station, which celebrates its centenary this year, being originally built in 1912. The area surrounding the station has been part of the city's historical renovation project. However, its clock tower maintains its original appearance and has been keeping time as a witness to the people of Ghent, i and its thriving history fot the past 100 years.

Tazu Rous (the new name of Tashu Nishi after finishing the Hotel Gent project) collaborated with TRACK - A contemporary city conversation. The two curators Philippe Van Cauteren and Mirjam Varadinis took time to select exemplary locations in the wider city center of Ghent and invited artists who have an affinity with the thematical context of those places. Tazu Rous, as selected artist used the local reality as a fertile source of inspiration. The results of projects in all different medias that embrace the social, economic, cultural and political conditions of the city and the times we live in. 

And lets move on...to Singapore! Indeed Mr. Nishi landed there too. Stratigically located at the crossroads of the world's sea routes, Singapore began as a humble port town. It has historically been distinguished as a place of transit, with people coming and going. For this hotel room of the Merlion Hotel the characteristics of a port town where strangers from distant places meet and interact before parting again, were replicated. The Merlion Hotel, where you spend a night with this symbol of Singapore, is certainly an art representation of the country itself. 

Marina Bay, where Merlion Hotel is situated, was formed through large-scale land reclamation projects that began in the 1970s. It transformed the mouth of the Singapore river into an urban amphitheatre, creating the centre of the city's financial and cultural precincts and a site for major events including national day and new year celebrations and the Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix. Since the MarinaBarrage was completed in 2008, Marina Bay has functioned as a freshwater reservoir, an important component of the city's self-sufficiency program. Its constantly transforming landscape is symbolic of Singapore's urban planning and hopes for the future!
