I always thought that photos taken via mobiles are in some way the new Polaroids. They have an inherit imperfectness and immediacy, as most things now do, and a ubiquity that can cover anything from roaming-spookiness, outrage (say, in downtown Athens) all the way to self-satisfied behavior resembling that of the urban 1970’s. “Photography Is Not Allowed” is often the only sign outside establishments in Manhattan.
