Olafur Eliasson, the Danish-Icelandic artistic who created The Weather Project at Tate Modern London in 2003, and attracted more than 2 million people, strikes again and brings a new project to Tate this summer. Developed over the last 2 years, Little Sun is a work of art that brings solar-powered light to off-grid areas of the world. Working with Frederik Ottesen, an experienced entrepreneur with a background in mechanical engineering and economics, in 2012 they co-founded LittleSun GmbH. Today is the grand opening of the exhibition that will run till 23 September 2012, and "teach" visitors about solar power, the global energy challenge, light and its importance in and for life. Late night blackout events in the Surrelism galleries at Tate Modern, seminars and the premiere of 16 short films on light, life, and Little Sun by filmmakers from off-grid areas around the world will take place. So...turn the lights OFF!
